As a part of the Mental Health First Aid series, QLS is offering four bespoke in-house training workshops:
- Module 1 - Standard MHFA for Legal Professionals
- Module 2 - Standard MHFA for Workplaces
- Module 3 - Standard MHFA Community
- Module 4 – Refresher Course (Accredited MHFAiders)
Module 1 - Standard MHFA for Legal Professionals
This course includes content, crisis situations, case studies and videos, tailored to the unique needs of a Legal Professional and adults working in the legal sector.
Workshop Content
Learn how to apply mental health first aid to adults across a range of common mental health problems and crisis situations arising in the Legal Profession, including:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Psychosis
- Substance use problems
- Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
- Eating Disorders
- Panic Attacks
- Traumatic Events
Learning Objectives
At the completion of the workshop participants will have the knowledge and understanding of substantive content dealing with:
- Recognising and learning the warning signs of mental health problems in other adults
- Knowledge about how to respond across a wide range of crisis situations where an adult may be at risk or harm
- Using an evidence-based action plan to initiate a mental health first aid conversation
- Knowledge and skills to be able to offer support, including being able to speak openly and accurately about mental health
- Reducing stigma and increase support for adults experiencing and living with mental health problems
- Applying self-care practices as a Mental Health First Aider
CPD: 4 points for Blended Face-to-Face Course and 5 points for Blended Online Course

- Complete a short assessment at the end of the course to receive a 3-year accreditation to be a MHFAider
- A 12-hour course consisting of a choice from two blended learning approaches

- 4-hour face-to-face session
Online Delivery (min 6 – max 12 people)
- Online self-paced eLearning (5-7 hours), followed by:

Module 3 - Standard MHFA Community
This course equips adults with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognise, understand and respond to a friend, family member, co-worker, or another adult, experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis.

Module 4 - Refresher Course (Accredited MHFAiders)
Training for current and Accredited MHFAiders to stay up to date with mental health first aid knowledge, skills and information.
You are eligible for a Refresher course if you have completed a full MHFA course and accreditation assessment, within the last 3 years.
Participants must provide a copy of your Certificate of Accreditation prior to the training. This can be accessed via your Mental Health First Aid Account.

- Engage with the latest research and keep your knowledge current
- Revisit key actions for supporting someone in crisis situations
- Practice techniques in a safe, supportive setting that prepares for real applications
Learning Objectives
- Gain practical guidance for challenging MHFA scenarios
- Improve confidence in MHFA aid knowledge and skills
- Connect with other MHFAiders, share experiences, and learn from real-life situations

- You will be invoiced within 7 days of the delivery of the workshop
- In the event that you cancel the workshops and no further dates can be agreed upon or rescheduled, you will be liable to pay a 50% cancellation fee
